Yumi Sato

Yumi Sato

Yumi was born and raised in the prefectural capital, Yamagata City, where she attended Yamagata University and began her career in a local advertising agency. She started her own business aged just 25, but when she met Haruki, she decided to change her career path; they married and she moved to Nishikawa to become the landlady at Dewaya Inn. The couple have two young children, aged 3 and 1, and Yumi’s personal and professional motivation is all about passing on the mountain and foraging traditions to the next generation. She enjoys living life according seasonal customs, and her hobbies include traditional tea ceremony and flower arrangement.   Message to participants of Mountain Foraging at Dewaya Inn: “Although my English isn’t great, I hope you will really enjoy yourselves with our Japanese hospitality.”
